PRODUCERS SIGNS DEAL WITH U.S. LABEL

One of the most popular Dutch DJ's/producers was offered a multiyear contract by a large American label and music publishing company. In the meantime, the client was getting similar offers from other companies. The challenge in this matter was to advise the client about the range of possibilities in order for them to make the right choice.

The client attached much importance to creative freedom, which was possibly even more important than the amount of royalties. The agreement regarded a ‘360 deal’ in which is stated that the music label receives a percentage of all the artist’s sources of income. Experience with music contracts for the American market, thorough knowledge of legal English and the dance music market was required for this assignment.
